Getting Real: My Journey

I’m going to get real here for a second . . .

After having my son, I was proud of what my body had done.  I mean it just created life – that is truly remarkable!  Even with this miraculous tiny human, I just didn’t feel great about myself.  I was tired, my body was not what it once was and my emotions were all over the place!  I needed an outlet to find the new me.

Unlike every woman I hear about, breastfeeding did NOT melt away the pounds.  I knew I would need to work at it.  Unfortunately, with my husband working full-time and my family far away, if I wanted to workout outside of the house that would need to happen either late at night or on the weekends.  Let’s be honest, heading out to a class at 7/8pm was less than ideal for this sleep deprived momma.  Plus, there are some many other things I would like to do at that time – rest, catch up with my husband, rest, cuddle Bo Jangles, rest . . . I think you get the idea.

So, I turned to Beachbody and their On Demand website of programs.  I will admit, I was skeptical at first.  Get in shape in my home in only 30 minutes a day?!  I just did not see it happening but I thought, what the heck, I’ll give it a try.  I mean, I didn’t have a lot of “free time” as it stood so naptime workouts were all I could do.

After 4 months, I had dropped 18 pounds, was back to my pre-baby weight and felt more energized than I had before.  Making that time for myself, even 30 minutes a day, was exactly what I needed to feel myself again, gain much needed energy, and become stronger not only on the outside but the inside as well which in turn made me a better wife and mother.  I’m now down almost 30 pounds and my journey is still only just beginning!!

The inspiration, the support and being back in fitness, finding my strength is what pushed me to become a Beachbody Coach.  I want to help others find that stronger version of themselves and realize that you can do it.  So, join me, follow me, watch me from afar – whatever you chose I hope I can bring just one person some inspiration to do something they didn’t think they could do or to find their “groove” again.  For me, I only wish I had found it sooner!

Anything is possible.  DREAM BIG!

Get Out & Explore – Boston Play Spaces

I am a huge fan of getting out and about with my mini.  My husband and I decided early on (week 1) that we would get out of the house with our new little munchkin as much as we could and I have tried to maintain that no matter what.  As he gets older, we have found it easier to do but it was important for us to maintain some semblance of our life before baby as well as getting him used to different places and noises.  Sometimes it’s good to get out and just walk around the city with him for some fresh air and a change of pace.  Fortunately, the summer is great for walks or going to the park – in general it’s easier to get out of the house on the warm, sunny days.  But for those rainy, cold or wintery days when you feel like you may go stir-crazy at home with your little one I have found some great play spaces that allow you to get some air and some of that baby energy out!

Brodeman and I have found the ones listed below so far.  Just a note: most of these places also host children’s classes.

Have fun!
